The Bookless Future ?

Speculative Design.
This piece offers a critical reflection on the fate of analogue books in an increasingly digital age. The piece inhabits a future where analogue books are no longer in mass production. As such, traditional books have become a collector’s item, which only the fortunate can own and experience. The vast majority of society can therefore only experience how information was traditionally accessed via a museum exhibition, with the precious artefacts secured behind a transparent barrier. The scenario was identified by researching the existing circumstances that affect library services such as budget cuts and the introduction of digital devices for reading.
